ALTERNATIVE
FREE TOUR

Another Side of Lisbon:
An Original Take Lisboa Tour

If you want to see the Lisbon off the beaten path, our Alternative Free Tour is the tour you were waiting for. This free tour is a great introduction to the Alternative Lisbon city and you’ll get to see many projects of street art in Lisbon in a fascinating tour. But this Take Lisboa free walking tour is much more than street art, tags and graffiti as we will stroll around the Lisbon neighborhoods of Mouraria and Graça and admire the urban contrasts and the different realities this other side of Lisbon has to offer. The Alternative Free Tour begins in the most unconventional of places, Martim Moniz, and it will take just a couple of minutes as we walk around Martim Moniz to feel a different vibe to the city. More than 70 different nationalities inhabit Lisbon’s Mouraria district it will be like taking the planet all at once. Did you know that during the XV century we would be outside the Fernandine walls of the city? As we start climbing one of the many hills of Lisbon, we will reach one of the first street art galleries of the city, the Caracol da Graça. It is a genuine open air art mural where you may find the works of artists like Thiago Gomms, Utopia or Akacorleone.  As we venture into the Graça district, we can look back from one of the best viewpoints of Lisbon and enjoy one of Lisbon’s most beautiful views and relax as we prepare ourselves to discover the working villas, authentic neighborhoods inside neighborhoods built in beginning of the XX century to house factory workers. We will also talk about poetry and female authors before admiring incredible murals by Shepard Farey and VHILS and even an alternative piece done by Bordalo II. We would dare say the collaboration in Lisbon of VHILS and Farey is probably one of those special moments of any tour. The tour will end near the Botto Machado Garden just in front of Lisbon’s National Pantheon and arguably one of the most astonishing works in Lisbon, the tile mural of André Saraiva aka Mr. A. Being an Alternative walking tour and depending on the day, we may also end on top of the Miradouro Senhora do Monte to enjoy the Lisbon light and the river Tagus in all its immensity.  This is definitely the city’s most eclectic walking tour and as you can see we go by many of the alternative places to visit in Lisbon. You will also be rewarded by our guide’s top things to do in the neighborhood. Take our Alternative Free Tour so you make take the other side of Lisbon back home.
